Preliminary Design Report Addendum No.2 <br />obtained from the Newport Beach Golf Course. The majority of the route is within ROW and will require <br />maintenance of traffic (MOT). When possible, a trenchless method of construction will be used to cross <br />major intersections to minimize lane closures along the route. <br />Right of Way Availability <br />Route 5 will use the easement on the Newport Beach Golf course to cross the Corona Del Mar Freeway, <br />and therefore an easement must be obtained from owner of the golf course. The following properties will <br />need permanent construction easements acquired from private landowners: <br />• Newport Beach Golf Course, 20 feet wide by 1,000 feet long <br />Operation and Maintenance <br />This section will be addressed upon the completion of the hydraulic calculations of the preferred <br />alternative routes. <br />Special Construction <br />Trenchless construction techniques will be used for all pipeline crossings of major highways to avoid <br />disruption in vehicular traffic. Route 5 contains three crossings which will require special coordination <br />and involvement with the applicable agencies. <br />• Newport Beach Golf Course (HDD), 1,000 feet, 10 feet deep <br />HDD and jack and bore construction will be used to accomplish these major highway crossings. <br />Additional information regarding the estimated cost of special construction is located in Exhibit B. <br />4.4 EVALUATION AND COMPARISON OF ALTERNATIVE PIPELINE ROUTES <br />4.4.1 Cost Estimate Software <br />The conveyance pipeline cost estimate was developed using the Tabula 3.1 software. <br />4.4.2 Pipeline Construction Cost <br />Preliminary construction costs for the routes have been estimated for route comparison purposes. Table 4- <br />1 lists the preliminary construction cost for each route based on pipe material, installation, crossings, <br />special construction, and surface restoration.
