9. Mentorinp <br />K. Specify how your organization will provide mentorina to youth. <br />Mentorship has always been a cornerstone of the Santa Ana Public Library's Teen (12 -18) and <br />Young Adult (18 -24) programming, and it will be a cornerstone of the "Seeds to Trees <br />Academy" program as well. All program participants will be assigned a Tutor Mentor, who they <br />will meet with individually on a weekly basis for 30 minutes as part of their on -the job training. <br />They will discuss the progress of their vocational and on -the job training as well as any <br />additional educational tutoring and support service needs that they may have. Tutor Mentors <br />will provide the necessary resources to meet their mentees' needs. Tutor Mentors will also <br />schedule their mentees' tutoring time at this meeting. In addition to mentoring from their <br />assigned Tutor Mentors, interns will also receive mentorship on their particular production <br />projects from project mentors. These Project Mentors will be responsible for helping interns <br />develop and produce content for programming on specific topics. They will also receive <br />mentoring from the Case Managers who will meet with them on a bi- monthly basis to track their <br />progress and needs. Interns will also receive additional mentoring from their in -class vocational <br />training instructors and externship employers. <br />L. Specifv what types of support your organization will offer youth who are facing <br />challenging obstacles such as: family dysfunctions, mental health issues, low self- esteem, <br />probation, gang issues, parenting issues, etc. <br />Dr. Lawrence Singer, who has a Doctorate in Psychology, will be on -staff to provide guidance <br />with life skills workshops, and referrals to counseling services to help youth in successful <br />development (Refer to Attaclunent W -7). Additionally, the program has a staff member with a <br />MA in mental health counseling (Krystal Zavala), who will be available on a weekly basis to <br />provide counseling services to youth encountering challenging obstacles. Both counselors will <br />compile a resource binder for use in referring youth to (Please refer to attachment W -7 for <br />resumes of both counseling staff members). <br />M. Will your organization offer mental health services or referrals to mental health <br />agencies, describe. <br />Yes, we will offer counseling per previous answer and will provide referral service to local <br />service providers. <br />N. Describe how your organization will provide or refer youth to comprehensive guidance <br />and counseling for drug and alcohol, etc. <br />The program provides referrals for youth to comprehensive guidance and counseling for drug <br />and alcohol. We will get support for these referrals from our counselors on staff and from our <br />health agency partners. Additionally we will be providing "The Truth about Drugs" drug <br />education program workshops in partnership with drugfreeworld.org. These workshops will also <br />serve as a referral point.
