GREAT WESTERN RECLAMATION <br /> JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> POSITION/TITLE: Route Supervisor, Commercial <br /> REPORTS TO: Operations Manager <br /> DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> • Assists in planning of commercial truck routes. <br /> • Dispatches trucks and drivers to designated routes. <br /> • Insures drivers and helpers report to work on time and in proper attire, are in good <br /> condition for work and that they depart for routes as scheduled. <br /> •- Insures that proper procedures are used in the operation of Company equipment. <br /> • Directs and supervises the collection crews in the collection, transportation of <br /> disposal of solid wastes, maximizing efficiency and economy of operations. <br /> • Resolves customer complaints by determining cause and taking corrective action <br /> and establishing customer contract when required. <br /> • Insures drivers are following route books. <br /> • Insures that the drivers complete the Daily Dispatch Sheet and WMI Vehicle <br /> Condition Report in accordance with D.O.T. Regulations prior to leaving the yard <br /> and upon their return to the yard. <br /> • Collects dump tickets. <br /> • Insures that all drivers maintain trucks in a clean state by cleaning inside cab area <br /> and behind packer blades. <br /> • Reports to the Shop Supervisor all detected and noted mechanical truck <br /> discrepancies. <br /> • Insures maximized loading of truck prior to going to the landfill for disposal. <br /> • Investigates all damages within assigned routes with the assistance of the Safety <br /> Manager. Turns completed Accident Investigation reports into the Safety Manager <br /> for review. <br /> • Insure that all assigned route audits are completed annually. <br /> • Performs other tasks as required or assigned. <br /> WORK EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> • The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge in the operation and usage of the <br /> various types of refuse collection vehicles and equipment. <br /> • Must understand the principles of the truck routing to insure efficient, economic <br /> collection, transportation and disposal,of solid wastes. <br /> • Must be able to follow routine procedures and accomplish assigned tasks with a <br /> measure of independence. <br /> • Must be able to deal tactfully with customers and work harmoniously with other <br /> employees and supervisors. <br />
