WASTE MANAGEMENT, INC. <br /> POLICY - Number P-200 <br /> POLICY REGARDING SEXUAL HARASSMENT <br /> ISSUED DATE: MARCH 1, 1992 REVISION DATE: <br /> RESPONSIBLE DEPT: CHAIRMAN and PRESIDENT <br /> Policy <br /> Waste Management, Inc. ' s policy is to maintain a work environment <br /> that permits every employee to be free from the sexual harassment <br /> by any co-worker, supervisor or other person. All employees must <br /> be allowed to work in an environment free from sexual overtones and <br /> intimidation. <br /> Sexual harassment-includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for <br /> sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual <br /> nature when: <br /> (a) submission to this conduct is made, explicitly or implicitly, <br /> a term or condition of an individual 's employment; <br /> (b) submission to or rejection of this conduct by an individual <br /> is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting that <br /> individual; or, <br /> (c) the conduct has the purpose or effect of interfering with an <br /> individual 's work performance or creating an intimidating, <br /> hostile, or offensive work environment. <br /> It is unacceptable for any employee to engage in conduct that <br /> includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or <br /> similar implicit or explicit verbal or physical acts. <br /> No employee shall directly or indirectly: <br /> (a) threaten or insinuate that another employee's refusal to <br /> submit to sexual advances will adversely affect that <br /> employee's relationship with the company, work status <br /> evaluation, wages, advancement, assigned duties, or any other <br /> condition of employment; <br /> (b) promise, imply or grant preferential treatment in connection <br /> with another employee engaging in sexual conduct; or, <br /> (c) abuse the dignity of another employee through insulting or <br /> degrading sexual remarks or conduct. <br /> Complaints of perceived sexual harassment will be promptly <br /> investigated in a confidential manner. Any type of retaliation <br /> against an employee who makes such a complaint is strictly <br /> prohibited. <br />
