WASTE MANAGEMENT, INC. <br /> DIRECTIVE NUMBER: PD-201 <br /> ISSUE DATE: March 1, 1992 <br /> AVOIDANCE OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT <br /> GROUP: Applies to WMI, WMNA and CWM <br /> RESPONSIBLE DEPARTMENT: Vice President - Human Resources <br /> PURPOSE <br /> This Directive outlines the practices necessary to affirm the <br /> Company's commitment to maintain a work environment free from <br /> sexual harassment through internal communication, education and <br /> review. <br /> APPROVALS AND MINIMUM REOUIREMENTS <br /> 1. Each operating location must post the Company's policy <br /> regarding Sexual Harassment in a conspicuous location which <br /> makes it viewable by new applicants and employees. <br /> 2 . Each operating location must provide or discuss the Company's <br /> policy against sexual harassment with all newly-hired people. <br /> 3 . All supervisory and management level personnel should receive <br /> annual training on how to identify and prevent sexual <br /> harassment in the work place as well as on how to handle a <br /> sexual harassment complaint. <br /> 4 . All employees should receive annual sensitivity training 'or <br /> information on the issue of sexual harassment. Employees <br /> should also be aware of the appropriate procedures for <br /> reporting any incident of perceived sexual harassment. <br /> 5. Periodic reminders about the Company's policy against sexual <br /> harassment should be distributed to all employees. <br /> 6. Management at each location should periodically tour the <br /> facility for the purpose of detecting and removing any <br /> pictures, posters, calendars, graffiti, objects, books, <br /> magazines or other materials that are sexually suggestive, <br /> sexually demeaning or pornographic. <br /> 7 . Reports of alleged sexual harassment should be reported to a <br /> management representative through the Issue Resolution <br /> Procedure or the WMI Helpline. <br /> 8 . Complaints of alleged sexual harassment will be promptly and <br /> thoroughly investigated by an appropriate Company official <br /> and any necessary corrective action shall be administered in <br /> a timely manner. <br /> 1 <br />
