Cit�of Santa Ana __ Proposal to Provide Solid Waste Consulting Services <br />RFP NO.: 18-006 <br />In 2008 and in 2016, HF&H assisted the City of Diamond Bar with the renegotiation and <br />enhancement of their current agreements with Waste Management and Valley Vista Services. <br />Agreement enhancements included: <br />• Mixed waste processing of all bin and roll -off customer waste under the commercial <br />agreement. <br />• Implementation of an organics program in compliance with the requirements of AB 1826, <br />and associated rate adjustments (if applicable); <br />• An updated rate adjustment methodology; <br />• Increased construction and demolition debris diversion requirement; <br />• Development of an attainable hauler -collected diversion requirement; <br />• Requirements for the collection and safe disposal of household hazardous waste <br />material from multi -family residents; and, <br />• Implementation of a City fee to pay for school environmental assemblies and education. <br />City of Whittier Contract Negotiations (2017) <br />Project Description <br />The City of Whittier contracts for exclusive solid waste collection <br />services with Athens Services (Athens) and Republic Services <br />(Republic). The existing interim agreements began July, 2016 <br />and will expire October 31, 2016. <br />Prior to implementation of the interim agreements, the City of <br />Whittier's Public Works Department provided municipal solid <br />waste collection in one exclusive area of the City, and Republic <br />served another exclusive area. Following a competitive RFP <br />process, the City awarded interim agreements to Republic and <br />Athens, with Athens taking over the City's previous service area, <br />and Republic continuing in the area it historically served.
