Local Guidelines for Implementing the <br />California Environmental Quality Act (2019) ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT <br /> <br />(2) Projects that have the potential for causing significant environmental effects <br />beyond the city or county where the project would be located, such as: <br />(a) Residential development of more than 500 units; <br />(b) Commercial projects employing more than 1,000 persons or covering <br />more than 500,000 square feet of floor space; <br />(c) Office building projects employing more than 1,000 persons or covering <br />more than 250,000 square feet of floor space; <br />(d) Hotel or motel development of more than 500 rooms; and <br />(e) Industrial projects housing more than 1,000 persons, occupying more than <br />40 acres of land, or covering more than 650,000 square feet of floor area; <br />(3) Projects for the cancellation of a Williamson Act contract covering more than 100 <br />acres; <br />(4) Projects in one of the following Environmentally Sensitive Areas: <br />(a) Lake Tahoe Basin; <br />(b) Santa Monica Mountains Zone; <br />(c) Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta; <br />(d) Suisun Marsh; <br />(e) Coastal Zone, as defined by the California Coastal Act; <br />(f) Areas within one-quarter mile of a river designated as wild and scenic; or <br />(g) Areas within the jurisdiction of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and <br />Development Commission; <br />(5) Projects that would affect sensitive wildlife habitats or the habitats of any rare, <br />threatened, or endangered species; <br />(6) Projects that would interfere with water quality standards; and <br />(7) Projects that would provide housing, jobs, or occupancy for 500 or more people <br />within 10 miles of a nuclear power plant. <br />A Draft EIR may be submitted to the State Clearinghouse when a state agency has special <br />expertise with regard to the environmental impacts involved. <br />When the Draft EIR will be reviewed through the State review process handled by the <br />City <br />form genera <br />A sufficient number of copies of the documents must be sent to the State Clearinghouse <br />for circulation. Staff should contact the State Clearinghouse to find out the correct number of <br />printed copies required for circulation.
