A "household member" means: <br />Any member of the employees' household related by blood or marriage; <br />any other relative of the employee by blood or marriage, where it can be <br />established by the employee that the employee's presence is required to <br />handle emergency arrangements and/or other matters. <br />2. Personal necessity leave may also be used, as follows: <br />• To attend to a serious accident to members of the employee's <br />immediate family <br />• Childbirth <br />• To cope with imminent danger to the employee's family, home, or <br />other valuable property <br />• When the existence of external circumstances beyond the employee's <br />control make it impossible for him/her to report for duty <br />• Attend to medical or dental appointments for members of the <br />employee's household or family member as defined above. <br />J. Payment for Unused Sick Leave <br />l . Except in cases of disability retirement, upon non -disciplinary termination of <br />employment and at least ten (10) years of cumulative full-time service with the <br />City, an employee shall be entitled to receive a portion of their total <br />accumulated and unused sick leave balance upon the effective date of such <br />termination, at the rate of pay effective on the date of such termination. <br />Llpon termination of employment with the City, all employees must deposit one <br />hundred percent (100%) of their accumulated, but unused sick leave hours into <br />their Retirement Health Savings (RHS) account, based on the criteria below: <br />For employees who had less than ten (10) years of service with the City <br />as of September 30, 2010, the maximum sick leave eligible, after ten (10) <br />years of full -tune service, shall be equal to one third (1/3) of the total sick <br />leave accumulated, up to a maximum of three hundred and twenty-five <br />(325) hours. <br />2019-2022 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEIU Full -Time Employees Unit Page 60 <br />
