Planning & Feasibility Studies/Hydraulic Modeling
Shyamala Raveendran, PE, has 20 years of experience with hydraulic modeling, water and wastewater
master planning related projects in roles as technical reviewer, senior engineer, or project manager.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Water Master Plan, Phelan Pinon Hills Community Service District, CA. Project Manager and
Technical Reviewer responsible for delivery of the District's Water Distribution Master Plan to help the City
develop its capital improvement budget. Tasks included data collection, data analysis, update of water
distribution system design criteria, update and calibration of water hydraulic model with the most recent
operational control information, demand information, and field tests, evaluation of the system under
Average Day Demand (ADD), Maximum Day Demand (MDD), Peak Hour Demand (PHD), and MDD plus Fire
Flow (FF) conditions, identification of system deficiencies based on model results, and recommendation of
Capital Improvement Projects. An additional task included a study to help the District identify operational
solutions to optimize the use of Reservoir 6A.
Water System Operations Analysis & Master Plan, City of Vernon, CA. Project Manager and
Technical Reviewer responsible for delivery of the City's Water Master Plan to help the City with aspects of
demand management goals, hydraulic model update, asset management goals, developing scenarios to
help optimize current operational methods, and helping the City develop its near -and long-term capital
improvement budget. Coordinated remotely with four subconsultants ranging from rate fee experts,
hydrogeologists, and water industry specialists to help the City navigate project challenges amidst
COVID-19 restrictions in order to help the City meet its capital improvement planning goals.
Recycled Water Storage & Conveyance System Evaluation, San Elijo Joint Powers Authority,
CA. Senior Engineer in charge of building and calibrating the District's recycled water transmission system,
which includes a reclamation facility, three pumping stations, and three main storage facilities. Used the
updated hydraulic model to evaluate feasibility of converting a potable tank to recycled water storage
to meet current and future needs of SEJPA's northern distribution system for service to its retail agency
customers, evaluated whether an existing tank would need to increase wall height, determine and rank
storage and operational benefits of two main tanks to the SEJPA recycled water system.
2020 Water Master Plan & Water Capacity Fee Study, San Dieguito Water District, CA. Managed
a team of consultants to complete the following tasks for the District's Master Plan update: hydraulic
model update and validation, demand forecasting, asset valuation and condition assessment, water
capacity fee study, fire hazard analysis, and capital improvement project development and prioritization.
Coordinated all meetings, technical memoranda reviews, and maintained communications with the
District and subconsultants in order to maintain scope, schedule, and budget expectations of the project.
Urban Water Management Plan, Phelan Pifion Hills Community Service District, CA. Project
Manager and Technical Reviewer responsible for delivery of the District's 2020 UWMP to meet state
regulatory requirements. Significant updates to the 2015 plan were made including an update to the
existing water shortage contingency plan.
Water Distribution Model Update and Calibration, Fallbrook Public Utility District, CA. Project
Manager and Technical Reviewer responsible for model update and calibration activities for the District's
water distribution system model consisting of 9,215 services, 9 pressure zones, 8 storage tanks, about 30
pressure reducing valves, and several booster stations. Two separate models were merged in InfoWater
to produce one model of the system. The merged model was calibrated in steady-state with latest
