4 :A
BROOKSIDE GOLF COURSE IMPROVEMENT
New Recreational Opportunities in a Historic Setting
The Brookside Golf Course is set in the backdrop of the Rose Bowl
Stadium and Central Arroyo in Pasadena. The Rose Bowl Operating
Company considered various improvements, including reorienting and
expanding the heavily used driving range from 20 to 60 hitting bays,
with new netting, poles, lighting, and tracking technology. The project
also included development of a new miniature golf course for family
use, with low-level themed design, educational information, and low-
level lighting. It included an 18-hole ADA accessible course with play
options for 9 holes.
The Brookside Golf Complex is part of the Pasadena Arroyo Park and
Recreation District, a historic district with 27 contributing historic
features (including the Brookside Golf Course) that is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places for its association with the
development of Pasadena as a recreational mecca. Because of this
historical significance, the Initial Study/MND included a historical study
to evaluate impacts to the historic district. Other key Issues included
biological impacts and construction impacts.
Location
Pasadena, California
Size
10 acres
Client
Rose Bowl Operating Company
Date Completed
December 2021
Services Provided
Initial Study/MND, Historic Evaluation
® PLACEWORKS
A-73
