Thornton Park Neighborhood
Water Main Replacement
SANTA ANA, CA
RICK prepared construction documents to
replace the existing 8" water mains in nine
(9) streets in this well -established Santa Ana
neighborhood. The total length of water main
replacement was 7,500 feet.
The plans and specifications were prepared
such that the existing water line was live
until the new water line was in place and
operational. Once the new water line was
operational, the water laterals were connected to the new 8" water
line. The project included preparing a base map based on as -built
plans, water meter service records, City GIS, and site visit surveys.
Work included a records search through City of Santa Ana, County
of Orange, and dry utility purveyors. The records research were
tracked by keeping a log documenting the entity, contact information,
date, and topic of correspondence, and date the document was
received or outcome.
The engineering design was prepared in accordance with the City of
Santa Ana Design Guidelines for Water and Sewer Facilities and the
City's CAD standards. Support was provided during the bid phase by
attending pre -bid and pre -construction meetings and responding to
contractor's request for information.
Aviation Boulevard Missing
Sidewalk Project
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA
For the City of Manhattan Beach, RICK
prepared construction documents to install
a missing sidewalk segement on the west
side of Aviation Boulevard, a six -lane facility,
for a length of 600% and reconstruct five (5)
ADA-compliant curb ramps. The proposed
sidewalk is to have a minimum width of 6.5'
within an existing terrain comprised of a
vegetated slope with mature trees, existing
overhead utility lines supported by wooden
poles, and utility vaults. The work fronts properties owned by
Northrup Grumman and a shopping center, and required a right-
of-way from each owner to meet the project's goals. Current work
has included coordination with the adjacent property owners for
property access to perform field design surveys and geotechnical
borings. Completed work has also included preparing and
distributing utility coordination request letters.
Ex
COMPLETION DATE
Design Start: 2018
Design End: 2020
Construction End: 2022
CLIENT / CONTACT
City of Santa Ana
Sean Thomas, PE, QSD
Project Manager
(714)647-5655
SThomas5@santa-ana.org
COMPLETION DATE
February 2022 to Present
CLIENT / CONTACT
City of Manhattan Beach
Marzena Laskowska, PE
Senior Civil Engineer
(310)802-5325
m laskowska @ m anh atta n beach.
gov
RICK City of Santa Ana I On -Call Engineering Services, RFP No.: 23-030 17
