Avenue 64 Complete Streets PASADENA, CA 12020—ONGOING The City partnered with GHD to improve safety, improve non -motorized access, reduce traffic speeds, and improve drainage conditions, while minimizing impacts to the existing adjacent properties. At Burleigh Drive, GHD designed a custom roundabout that reduced vehicle speeds while still providing full access to the adjacent driveways, previously located in the intersection, through the implementation of a drive isle adjacent to the residences. This design allowed the improvements to stay within the city right of way while accommodating property/driveway access and provided a space for refuse pickup and parking. The roundabout provided an entrance into Pasadena through thoughtful landscape architecture in the central island, medians, and buffers. The project was able to safely accommodate all roadway users while reduce speeds without compromising capacity, access, or right of way. Kelly and Park Drive Road Diet and Multi -Use Trail Project CARLSBAD, CA 1 2017-2023 HELIX provided environmental services to support the City of Carlsbad's goal of creating a balanced multi -modal transportation network, requiring the reconfiguration of both Kelly Drive and Park Drive to create Complete Streets and provide Vail linkage. HELIX prepared a biological resources survey/jurisdictional delineation and report, cultural resources survey and report, and IS/MND for the project. Biological work also included preparation and submittal of regulatory permit applications and support during processing of the regulatory permits. HELIX worked with City of Carlsbad staff and project stakeholders to identify biological and cultural constraints to inform project design; biological mitigation included vegetation creation and restoration ratios following the City of Carlsbad's Habitat Management Plan and avoiding special -status species during construction. Cultural surveys and subsurface cultural testing confirmed the presence of cultural resources within the project footprint. Cultural mitigation included construction monitoring (with archaeological and Native American monitors) and controlled grading procedures.
