7of10 <br />W4 <br />+ uytengsu aquatics stadium los angeles, ca <br />university of southern california <br />A renovation and expansion of the former USC <br />McDonald's Olympic Swim Stadium, the Uytengsu <br />Aquatic Center boasts new features including <br />permanent seating, a new shade canopy, eco-friendly <br />LED lighting for nighttime events, and an array of <br />student -athlete amenities. The new Center gives USC's <br />championship intercollegiate aquatic sports programs <br />a revived presence along McClintock Avenue, the <br />school's athletic corridor. large windows on the street <br />allow passersby to see into the center and visually <br />participate in the numerous athletic activities. The <br />Uytengsu Center also boasts the first LED spectator <br />lighting system in the Pacific 12 Conference. This <br />creates both significant energy savings and a better <br />light temperature that is more conducive to athletic <br />events from both a spectator and athlete perspective. <br />LEDs also reduce light leak and the accompanying <br />impact to surrounding areas. The night lighting has <br />doubled the use of the pool from nine to an average of <br />eighteen hours a day.
