Case: Conflict and War in Islam <br />1.. Military conscription <br />a) It is not permissible for a Muslim government to impose compulsory military <br />conscription except in extreme and persistent cases. <br />2. The Islamic Criteria for Qualifying for Military Conscription <br />a) To be mature; <br />b) To have a sound mind; <br />c) To be free; <br />d) To be male; <br />e) Not to be old; <br />f) Not to be blind or disabled; <br />g) To not have a severe illness. <br />3. The Prohibited Acts of War and Conflict in Islam <br />It is a consensus among Muslim jurists that: <br />a) It is not permissible to kill children and women, just as it is not permissible to <br />mutilate the bodies of the dead of the non -believers. <br />b) It is not permissible to cut trees, cause flooding, burning, poisoning the water or <br />the air, using chemicallbiotogieal bombs and similar [measures against the <br />environment]. <br />
