Charge No.:12; Corruption of the Palestinian Education System
Hamas is charged with corrupting the educational system since it seized power in 2006. It
has militarized schools by indoctrinating children in the elementary stages with
curriculums related to offensive jihad, and urging children to learn to use weapons so that
they can carry out terrorist attacks after they grow up and graduate. One teacher who
opposes Harms policies testified that: One teacher notes that "They already control us in
every possible way... They monitor when we talk to our male colleagues and they
humiliate us if we don't dress in the way they want us to." Rules are enforced by "modesty
police", known to abuse those in their custody. Thousands of children are taught to use
weapons and urged to pursue jihad after graduation.
Hamas is charged with directly endangering Palestinian students by tiring rockets from
schools campuses. Hamas also endangers the lives of school students directly, by setting
schools as bases for firing rockets at Israel, despite the opposition of the students' families
to these reckless behaviors, and their concern for their children in light of such a violent
and harsh atmosphere.
The civil activist (Rarnzi Harzallah), who is considered a critic of Hamas, explained. that
his family's house was raided by Hamas members, dressed in civilian clothes, and he
published a video documenting that raid, and the threat of Hamas members to his parents
and his family.
