Charge No.13: Falsely Accusing Palestinians of Treason
Haman uses the designation (the collaborator) as a pretext to attack its supposed enemies in
order to spread terror in the licarts of the people of Gaza, llamas authorities liberally
accuse their critics with collaboration with Israel. As several human rights groups have
noted, however, evidence in these cases is murky at best, and clue process non-existent.
In 2014 alone, Hamas executed at least 23 people accused of collaborating with Israel. But
in numerous cases, the only evidence of the supposed offense was a confession extracted
under torture, and a "grossly unfair" trial,
llamas uses the label of `collaborator' as a justification to attack its perceived enemies and
instil fear in Gazans. As noted by the MENA program at Amnesty International: "Hamas
forces took the opportunity to ruthlessly settle scores, carrying out a series of unlawful
killings and other grave abuses."
They did so with impunity, and, adds Luther "These spine -chilling actions, some of which
amount to war crimes, were designed to exact revenge and spread fear across the Gaza
Strip."
One Human Rights Watch report notes "that Harnas authorities routinely arrest and torture
peaceful critics and opponents with impunity," Another found that this ongoing abuse may
constitute "crimes against humanity, given its systematic nature over many years." In the
same period, abuse and harassment of women has soared, According to Freedom House,
Harms authorities are "reluctant to pursue such cases" so "rape and domestic violence
rernain underreported and frequently go unpunished."
