The Board met Present, Trustees Alderman, McPhee, Greenleaf, Board called to order by President Frank Oity Hall, Santa Ana,Oal. December 15, 1913, at 7:50 p.m. in regular session. In Re Foot Bridge North Main Street In Re Water Main South Broadway In Re Lights, End and trd St. at In Re Unsanitary Con- dition West Fifth St In Re Natural Gas In Re Franchise P.E. Ry Co. 4th St. # On motion of Grmbb, seconded by MoPhee and carried, a comm~ittee consisting of Trustees Grubb and Alderman, gngineer ~inley and Fire Chief Young, were appointed to investigate and report on the proposition of putting a walk across Santiago Creek on North Main Street and connecting the same with the present bridge. # Geo. F. Heil appeared before the Board with a petition and requested that the water main on South Broadway from Third Street to ~ubbon Street be incraased to a fou~ inch main. On motion the matter was referred to Trustees Alderman, Grubb and Superintendent Reid. # A petition signed by J.A. Preston, et al, asking for Santa Fe St. the installation of electric light8 at Second and Third Streets on Santa ~e Street was referred to Trustees Greenleaf and McPhee. # A conmunication from Health Officer Dr. Olark com- $~laining about the unsanitary condition of West Fifth Street between Main and Sycamore Streets was on motion ordered filed. # The following report was submitted by Trustees Grubb and Alderman , a committee appointed to investigate and report on natural gas for the consumereof the City of Santa Ans. "Mr. President, your Committee to secure natural gas for Santa Aha, beg leave to report the result of their ~e~otiations and submit the proposal for your consider- t~on. The offer of the Birch Oil Company for gas deliver- sd to the Oity Limits, wholesale,and the proposi~ion of the Southern ~ounties Gas Company were eubnitted to two separate competent gas authorities in Los Angeles. Both advised us that the offer of the Southern Counties Gas Company was the safest and best offer. Your Committee recommends that the offer of the Southern Counties Gas Oompany be accepted. The offers of the Birch Oil Comps. ny and the Southern Oounties Gas Company are attached hereto as part of this report.. The foregoing report was approved and adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Alderman, MoPhee, Greenleaf, Grubb and Ey.
