Board met in regula~ session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the Clerk. <br /> <br />Present, Trustees Tubbs, <br /> <br />Absent, President Visel. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />President pro rem <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Librarian's Report <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Request Triangle Film CO. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Transient Tent Show license <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />City Attorney's report <br /> <br />Turner settlement <br /> <br />Santa Aha, <br /> July <br /> <br />MoPhee, Greenleaf and Maryatt. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Tubbe, <br /> <br /> City Hall, <br /> <br />~th, 1918, 7;30 p.m. <br /> <br />duly seconded by MoPhee and carried, <br /> <br />Trustee Maryatt was appointed President pro tom. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Tubbe, duly seconded by MoPhee and carried, <br /> <br />the Librarian's annual report was referred to the Auditing CommittE <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee MoPhee duly seconded by Tubbe, the application <br /> <br />of the Chamber of Commerce asking the Board to grant permission to <br /> <br />the Triangle Film Corporation to take street scenes for a picture <br />entitled "The Mayor of Filbert" was granted. <br /> <br />A communication from the Chamber of Commerce recommending sxlditiona <br />protection be given local theaters and amusement places against <br /> <br />traneient tent shows, etc. was read and on motion of Trustee Tubbe <br />duly seconded by Greenleaf, t~~ same/~referred to a committee, <br />the chair appointed Trustees Tubbs and Greenleaf a~ such committee <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Tubbe, duly seconded by McPhee, the following <br /> <br />report from City Attorney'$cott in the matter pertaining to the <br />settlement of C.A.P.Tttrner'e demand was accepted and ordered spread <br /> <br /> on the minutes: <br /> July ~,1918. <br />"Gentlemen:- Subject to your request of last meeting night, to <br /> report in the matter pertaining to the payment to C.A.P.Turner by <br /> the City Clerk of $1750.00, ordered paid by your Board by Warrant, <br /> subject to filing of Bond by the said Tt~rner, I beg leave to report <br /> aa follows: <br /> That C.A.P.Turner through his attorneys filed his petition <br /> on or about the 18th day of June,191~, in the Superior Cottrt,Dept.2 <br /> thereof, for a pre-emptory writ of mandamus, requiring the City <br /> Clerk to turn over the said money to said Turner; said writ ma~le <br /> returnable on the 21st da~ of June,at ten o'clock a.m. <br /> That at the request of the City Clerk, I entered my &ppearano, <br /> in hie behalf, denying the merits of petitioner's claim, and asking <br /> that the party claiming attachment be brought in; upon hearing the <br /> Court denied relief on the part of the defendant, the City Clerk, <br /> and held that no sufficient transcript of Judgment had been filed <br /> with said Clerk by the Judgment claimant, neither had there been <br /> filed subsequent to any time, the City was indebted to E.T.Flaherty <br /> and granted the writ aa prayed for by the petitioner against <br /> respondent, E.L.Vegely, a copy of which writ is hereto attached, <br /> Respectfully~ <br /> G.H.Soott," <br /> <br /> 'In the Superior Court of the State of California <br /> Xn and for the County of Orange <br /> <br />C.
