On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, tentative Map Tract #978, being a reversion of acreage and within the three mile limit of Santa Aha, presented by the Orange County Planning Commission, was referred to the Plan- ning Commission for approval. A petition signed by ninety-one residents and taxpayers was · presented requesting that a uniformed policeman be detailed at the dancehall at Fourth and Van Ness Streets to abate rowdyism, intoxication etc. On motion of Trustee B~uns, seconded by Penn and carried, the petition of residents and taxpayers was referred to the Police Commissioner and Chief of Police with power to act and with the reco~aendation to detail an officer at the dance hall whenever dances are held ,, On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the application of the Y. M. C. A. of Santa ~ to solicit the sum of $11,000.00 as a membership drive during the per- iod of January 15th to 31st, 1935, was granted. . On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the bond of the Star House Movers, Inc., of Los Angeles, in the amount of $100Q.00 to cover housemoving, was referred to the Chair for approval or disapproval. . On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the communication and Ordinance No. 44 of the Metropolitan Water District were received and the Clerk instructed to post the Ordinance in accordance with the law. Mayor Warner appoir~ted Trustee Bruns, City Engineer McBride and City Auditor Hanks as a committee to assist Miss Nell Bemus and Mrs. Roy Beall in decorating a float for the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena on New Yearts Day. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, and on recommendation of the Police Commissioner and Chief of Police the application of W. J. Harper to conduct a New and Second Hand Store at 902 E. Fourth Street, was granted. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the legal opinion of U. S. Webb, Attorney General, with reference to legal status of the City Councilmen appointed to fill vacancies caused by resigmations, was received and the city Attorney instruc%ed to submit copy to P.W.A.officia So
