On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the communication of Jay F. Demers with reference to adopt- lng an ordinance penalizing minors for vagrancy when enterin or loitering at establishments selling liquor, was referred to the City Attorney. The application of Wm. S. Irvine, Minister, for a permit to erect a tent on the southwest corner of Hesperian and Fifth Streets for religious meetings to begin January 13th, 1938, °and continuing for thirty days, was referred back to the applicant by the Mayor to contact and obtain permission of property ~ers in tb~ vicinity. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Rowland and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to communicate with the State of California Division of Highways as to the probable cost of securing the right-of-way for the widening of Grand Avenue in the City of Santa Ana from Seventeenth Street to Santa Clara Avenue. on motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Rowland and carried, the application of MacFarlane Electric for permission to h~ng an electric sign for the Western Auto Supply Company at 202 N. Main Street, was granted under supervision of the Electrical. Inspector and with the consent of the property owners and business establishments in the vicinity. . On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the applications of electrical contractors to hang electric signs were granted under supervision of the Electrical In- spect~ as follows: Ira Chandler & Son Dr. A. Reed Shoe Co. L. C. Slack On motion of Trustee Bruns, 218 N. Main St. 318 N. Sycamore St. 902 E. 1Vth St. seconded by Penn and carried, the application of the United Cooperative Exchange #1 for permission to solicit fund for $~QO.O0 for their organiza- tion, was granted. , On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Rowland and carried, the application of Keith Howard for permission to conduct his radio service business in his home at 1002 N. Broadway, was referred to the Planning Commission. Application was withdrawn.
