On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Penn and carried, the communication of The Metropolitan Water District relative to paying out of the municipal funds all or any portion of the amount of the Water District tax which would otherwise be levied upon property within the City of Santa Ana for the fiscal year 1936-37, was received and filed and the Clerk instructed to reply to same. # On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the application of Sol N. Gonzalez for permission to use Birch Park, September 16th, in the afternoon, for band con- cert and program conducted by the Federal Band, celebrating Mexican IndependenCeDay, was granted. On motion of Trustee Penn, leave of absences from the seconded by Bruns and carried, State were granted Floyd W. Howard Chief of Police for a period of ten days, August 12th to 22nd and J. G. Mitchell, City Judge, for a period of forty days beginning August 29th. # On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns snd carried, the the communication of Leland Auer submitting a proposed budget for four concerts by the Santa Ana Municipal Band for the season of 1~36 in amount of $840.00, was taken under advise- ment. # On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the applicatic~ of Gordon Rase for a permit to drive a taxicab for F. H. Williams, Courtesy Cab Company, was granted on recommendation of the Taxicab Commission. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns aud carried, the applications of Electrical Contractors to han~ electric signs at the following places of business, were granted upon the approval of the Electrical Inspector and to be hung under his supervision: Chas. M. Marks Broadway Cab Co. A. Lopizich # On motion of Trustee Penn, 120 E. Fourth St. 303 N. Broadway 1301 W. Fourth St. seconded by Bruns and carried, the petition of the Veterans' Welfare Board for the cancellation of certain taxes assessed to E. H. Fuller and Mildred W. Fuller and to Alex Lacy and Winifred Lacy, was granted and the Clerk instructed to advise the County Auditor Of the Council's action.
