Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, the ap~ of Arland W. Palmer was referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation. On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried the application of Arland W. Palmer was granted to conduct produce stand at 1821 W. First Street. . On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, the communication of the Planning Commis'sion relative to the widening of Flower Street between Washington and Seventeenth was referred to a committee of Smith, Penn and Layton. # On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the communication of L.A. Junior Chamber of Commerce relativ~ to the National Air Race Notorcade parading and extending invitations in Santa Aha, Thursday, September 3rd, 1935, was received and the Mayor instructed to confirm the arrangements as outlined in communication. . On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruhs and carried, the bids on city advertising were held over until next meeting of Council when all members will be present. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the quotations as submitted by the Orange County Commercial Prin- ters Assn. on City printing were refer.red to the Purchasing Agent with instructions to purchase printing in rotation. . On recommendatio,n of the Police Chief and on motion of Trus- tee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, Burnett Lane was appointed a Police Officer and W. F. Nielsen was appointed a Notor Police Officers of the City of Santa Ana as of August ~ On motion of Trustee ~enn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Santa Ana, California, fixing ~the amount of money ascertained to carry on the various departments of the City of Santa Ana, and to pay the bonded indebtedness falling due for the current year 1938-37, and fixing the rate of taxation for the current year 1938-37, designating the number of cents on each $100.00 for the vari- ous funds Of said City, on the whole of the taxable property of said City as set by the County Assessor of the County of Orange, S. tate of California, and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of said CountT, and here~y levied on the whole of the taxable property of said City." was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for second reading.
