Council Chambers Santa Ana City Hall. November 8th, 1937. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular adjourned session. Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. Present: Trustees Plummet W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, W.H. Penn, Ernest H. Absent: Trustees None. In Re Elks Club Traffic Safety Meeting. In Re ~'Communicatlon S.A. Development CO. In Re Communication Men's Bible Class. In Re Conm~unication George C. Perki~s~. In Re Petition Street Light. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. On motion of 'Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the invitation of the Santa Ana Elks Lodge to attend the Traffic Safety meeting to be held at the Elks Club, Tuesday evening November 9th, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the communication of the Santa Ana Development Company expres lng appreciation for the splendid improvements completed on Broadway and the cooperation given to keep the street open to traffic, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the communication of Men's Bible Claes, First M.E. Sunday School, expressing appreciation and commending Chief Howard and Trustee Brtuns on their efforts to prohibit the establish- m~nt of gambling and horse race betting places in the City, was received and filed and the Clerk instructed to write a letter thanking them for their words of commendation and the interest taken in .this matter. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the communication of George C. Perkins with notice attached signe( by. property owners between Riverside Drive and Santiago Creek stating that the City will be held liable for any damage heretofore or hereafter done to their property caused dir~ or indimectly by changes made in the banks or channel of the Creek, was referred to the present committee of Layton and McBride, committee to be increased at the discretion of the Chair, to make an intensive survey in a short period of time looking towards giving these people temporary relief and to make a Study of the situation for permanent relief. Trustee Bruns was appointed as the extra member of the committee. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the petition of residents and property owners for a center suspension light near lO11 W. Highland Street or in the immediate neighborhood, was referred to Trustees Bruns, Layto~ and Chief Howard for investigation.
