On motic~ of Trustee B~uns, seconded by Smith and carried, the communications of the Native Sons of the Golden West relative to the City of Santa Aha being represented at their committee meeting August 4th, in the Council Chambers City . Hall to discuss plans for participating in the parade for A~m~ssion Day Celebration in Santa Monica, ~eptember 9th,1937 was referred to the coordinating committee. On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Stuns and carried, the eommun~ation from the Pacific Coast Association of Fire to sendi.ng Chief Luxembour~er Chiefs wlth reference/to the Convention of Fire Chiefs in Spokane August llth to 14th, inclusive, was referred to the Fire Commissioner. On recommendation of the Fire Commissioner and on motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Stuns and carried, the communica- tion of the Pacific Coast Associatic~ of Fire 0hlSfs, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the Mayor aud Clerk were instructed to sign an agreement with Evan Jones covering the construction of an electric sign upon the property situated at 2640 N. Main Street, which extends over the seven and one-half foot set-back line established on N. Nain Street. . On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Layton and oa~ried, the application of the Santa Aaa Neon COmpany to hang an electric sign for Dennis Printers at lll E. First Street, was granted under supervision of the Electrical Inspector. # On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, the monthly reports of the City Officers for the month of July, were referred to the Finance Committee. # On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by ~mith and carTied, the Clerk was authorized to draw the warrants numbering from 271 to ~86 inclusive, covering demands audited by the Finance Committee. # On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Layton and ca~ried, the report of the Orange County Health Department for the months of Apr%l, May and June, 1937, was referred to the Council as a committee of the ~hole. On motion of T~,~stee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the Purchasing Agent was authorized to purchase a Studebaker automobile for the net price of $998.50 from Headley Notor Company for the Police Department and a Pontiac automobile from Bartelson & Wilson with trade in of a 1932 ~hevrolet
