Eckles. <br /> <br />IuRe <br /> <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />Water Rates, etc. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the applications of the Santa Ana Neon Company to hang elec- <br />tric signs for the E1 Toro Cafe at 220 E. Fourth Street and <br />Earl D. Blackburn at 503~ N. Main Street, were granted under <br />the supervision of the Electrical Inspector. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the monthly reports of city officers for the month of August, <br />were referred to the Council as a committee of the whole. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Smith and carried, <br />the Clerk was instructed to draw warrants according to demand~ <br />numbering from 518 to 782 inclusive as audited by the Finance <br />Committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />Frank J. Flanagan was appointed a special police officer of <br />the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Ninety-two petitions with approximately 10,060 signatures <br />attached were presented for an initiative measure to be sub- <br />mitted directly to the electors creating Civil Service Board <br />for Santa Ana, providing for its appointment, and for placing <br />police and fire departments under Civil Service. On motion <br />of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the petitions <br />were referred to the Clerk for checking as to legality and <br />qualifications of signatures and report back at next meeting. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />T~motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Bruns, that <br /> <br />the City Engineer was authorized to negotiate for a price for <br />the acquisition of~ the parcel of land, being 2.§? acres, <br />situated along the west side of Oak Street between Myrtle <br />Street and Bishop Street now held in trust by the First Nat- <br />ional Bank of Santa Aha for a sum not to exceed $3?50.00, was <br />lost. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Layton and carried, . <br />the application of C. H. Eckles, operator of the Santa Aha <br />Bus Service, to use two additional buses adding approximately <br />five hours of daily service, effective September 13th, 1~37, <br />was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "An Ordinance establishing water rates in the City of <br /> Santa Ana, prescribing rules and regulations governing <br /> consumption of water and fixing a penalty for the viola- <br /> tion thereof, and repealing Ordinances in conflict herewith <br /> <br />was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for <br />second reading. <br /> <br /> <br />
