R. Kellogg for permission to widen his <br />driveway nine feet on Santa Ana Boulevard near Roe Drive for <br />his auto camp, was referred to the Street Commissioner and <br />City Engineer to investigate and report back at the next <br />meeting of the Council. <br /> <br />The City Clerk's certificate showing that more than fifteen <br />percent of the qualified~lectors of the City of S~nta Ana, <br />as required by law, were affixed to the petitions requesting <br />the passage of an Ordinance placing police and firemen under <br />Civil Service, was read. <br /> <br />The motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn, to adopt the <br />Ordinance placing police and firemen under Civil Service, wag <br />amended by a substitute motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by <br />Smith and carried, that the City Attorney be instructed to <br />prepare the necessary Ordinances and Besolutions to call a <br />special election at the earliest possible date, to submit <br />this Civil Service Ordinance to the people of the City of <br />Santa Aha. <br /> <br />Roll Call: Ayes, Trustees Joseph P. Smith, Ernest H. Layton, <br /> Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br /> Noes, Trustees Plummer W. Bruns, W. H. Penn. <br />Before the vote was announced Trustee Bruns and Penn requeste~ <br />and obtained permission to change their vote from"No"to"Aye!' <br />so as to make the vote unanimous.
