In Re Condition of Cypress Avenue. Application M.R. Xellogg. APPROVED: Noes, Absent, wa~ lntrodUoed, read, considered and placed on file for second reading. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana calling a special election to submit to a vote of the electors of said City an Ordinance placing the members of the Police and Fire Departments under Civil Service rulee and regulations" was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 2§54 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Plummet W. Rx,Ans, Joseph P. Smith, W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. Trustees None. Trustees None. On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Penn and carried, the quotations covering fire and theft, public liability, property damage and full coverage collision and plate glass on city's fleet of automobiles and equipement, were received as follows: Pacific Indemnity Company $22~.21 General Insurance of America and on recommendation of the Auditor, t~he quotation of the Pacific Indemnity Company in amount of $2248.21 was accepted On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by ~ and carried, the report of the City Auditor for the first quarter cf the fiscal year 1957-58, was received and filed. . 0ral protests were heard against ~he proposed handbill 0rdi- nance and on motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, the w~tten protests presented against the Ordinance prohibiting free distribution of handbills, etc. were receive and filed for consideration in two weeks. On motion of Trustee Bruno, seconded by Smith and carried, the report of the committee was accepted that Cypress Avenue between St. Andrews and DeLhi Road will be kept sprinkled for the remainder of this year and the street will be seal- coated next summer. # More time was granted the committee on the application of M.R. Eellogg to widen his driveway nine feet on Santa Ama Boulevard near Roe Drive. # ~n motion of Trustee ~mith, seconded by Layton and carried, the City Council adjourned to Monday, October llth, 1957, at 7:50 P.M., in the Council Chamber.
