Smith addressed to Civil <br /> Service Board, was read, requesting two w~eks leave of absence, <br /> without pay, and on motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Reed <br /> and carried, leave of absence was granted subject to Civil Service <br /> Board. <br /> <br /> Copy of communication from City Engineer addressed to Civil <br /> Service Board, was read, advising of certification by Civil Servi¢ <br /> Board of Louis Pedroza, for appointment to position of Laborer in <br /> Water Department, effective Febru~y 12th, 1948, subject to pro- <br /> visions of Civil Service Ordinance, and on motion of Trustee <br /> Reed, seconded by' Mandy and carried, communication was received <br /> and filed. <br /> <br /> Copy of communication from City Engineer addressed to Civil <br /> Service Board, was read, advising that H.B.Lindley has satisfact- <br /> orily completed probationary period as Construction Engineer in <br /> Engineer's Department and should be placed on permanent status as <br /> of March lC, 1948, and on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by <br /> Cheney and carried, communication was received and filed. <br /> <br /> Copy of communication from Marion Suttner, Deputy City Clerk, <br /> addressed to Civil Service Board, was read, requesting leave of <br /> absence for a period of thirty days, beginning March 22nd, 1948, <br /> and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br /> leave of absence was granted. <br /> <br />Copy of~ communication from Chief of Police addressed to Civil <br />'Service Board~ was read, advising that Lloyd L.
