<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the
<br />reports for the month of March, submitted by the City Judge,
<br />Building Inspector, Police Department and Juvenile Bureau, were
<br />received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the
<br />monthly demands, as audited by the Finance Committee, were approve
<br />and Clerk authorized to draw Warrants covering demands numbering
<br />3127 to 3504 inclusive.
<br />
<br />This being the night set for the hearing on the application of
<br />Emil P. Berta, Raymond J. Hulbert and Isadore DeBernardi to estab-
<br />lish an amusement center in the 2100 block, South Main St., oral
<br />protests and favorable comments were heard. Written protests and
<br />favorable petitions were also read, and on motion of Trustee Mand
<br />seconded by Reed and carried, the application, protests and peti-
<br />tions were referred to the Clerk, Planning Consultant and the
<br />Chief of Police to check names and addresses and report back at
<br />the next meeting.

<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the
<br />following Ordinance entitled:
<br />
<br /> "An Ordinance of the City of Santa Ana declaring its
<br /> intention as such City to vacate a portion of an un-
<br /> named alley within said City, describing the portion
<br /> proposed to be vacated, and fixing the tin~ and
<br /> place for hearing of all persons interested in or
<br /> objecting to the proposed vacation"
<br />
<br />was read, considered, designated Ordinance No. 1228, and passed b
<br />the following vote:
<br />
<br /> Ayes, Trustees Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy,
<br /> Virgil'H. Reed, R. Carson Smith.
<br /> Noes, Trustees None
<br /> Absent, Trustees W. J. Cheney
<br />.
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the
<br />Ordinance amending the Plu~mbing Ordinance No. 821, a~ read at the
<br />meeting of March 29, was amended by deleting the following words
<br />in Section 29, Paragraph "B":
<br />
<br /> "provided that said owner shall personally purchase
<br /> all material and shall personally perform all labor
<br /> in connection therewith."
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the
<br />following Ordinance entitled:
<br />
<br /> "An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 821, entitled
<br /> 'An Ordinance providing for the appointment of a
<br /> Plumbing Inspector, defining his duties and fixing
<br /> his compensation: Regulating the method of con-
<br /> structing plumbing work, house, drainage, and gas
<br /> fitting, providing for the inspection thereof and
<br /> and the issuance of permits therefor: and provid-
<br /> ing a oenalty for the violation of said Ordinance'"
<br />
<br />was read, considered and placed on file for second reading.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, the
<br />Resolution accepting deed on Lot X, Block A, and Lot Y, Block B,
<br />of Oakmont Tract No. 378, was referred back to the City Attc~ney
<br />for checking.

<br />N~ written or oral protests having been received, on motion of
<br />Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, the following Reso-
<br />lution entitled:
