Communications were read from Building Inspector and the firm of Nordstrom & Faccou recommending the retention of E.E. Patmor, Assistant Building Inspector, retired as of November 30~h, 1950~ The motion~of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney to approve the recommendation of the Bldg. Inspector, was lost by the following vote: Trustees Trustees Trustees Ayes W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler. Not Voting John W. Martin Jr., Noes Virgil H. Reed, Allen A. Mandy. The'Clerk read Opinion No. 113 of the City Attorney reference Department of Sanitation and oo~unication was also read from Civil Service Board requesting official action concerning sta~ms of the Sanitary Department and the employees thereof. Absent Tone On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, the bids of John J. ~wiga~t Co. and Oliver W. Scott, on the resurfacin of West Fifth Street from Baker to Garnsey Streets were rejected due to the fact that bids were received after the time set out in the Notice Inviting Bids. # On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and ca,tied, certified copy of Minutes of the Board of Supervisors, dated Nove 21, 1950, advising that Purchasing Agent was authorized to roof building at Pistol Range, was received and filed. # On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, request of Haven Seed Co. that approach from Edinger Street to their property at 910 W. Edinger Street be put back in the condition which it was prior to the recent change of grade and paving on this street, was referred to Trustee Cheney and City Engineer with ~ower to act. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the recommendation of the Recreation Commission was approved that full. time employees cf the Recreation Department be granted the Council' cost-of-living increase of $15.00 per month beginning November 1, 1950 through June 30th, 1951. # On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the request of Everett E. Parks and Gates W. Burrows, Associated Architects, that a soil test be taken of proposed Fire Department Headquarters site on West Third Street between Broadway and Birch Streets, was referred to Building Inspector and Purchasing Agent with power to act. # On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, communication from Department of Finance stating that the City has a balance not yet applied for of $2,882.90 for plans preparation S
