B.C.Clark, Chairman, Housewives Anti-Smudge Committee, <br /> appeared before the Council ~nd read letter stating that the <br /> committee has conferred with representatives of the Citrus Grower <br /> located within 'the city limits of Santa Aha on the problem of <br /> controlling orchard heating and have examined the ordinance pro- <br /> posed by them; also, the committee is in substantial agreement <br /> with the citrus gr~owers proposed ordinance as it relates to <br /> orchard heating. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin <br /> and carried, communication was received, filed and proposed <br /> Ordinance to be furnished members of Council, Growers Committee <br /> and Anti-smudge Committee. On motion of Trustee Martin, seconde <br /> by Cheney and carried, a committee was appointed to work with the <br /> City Attorney in preparing an ordinance to control the smudge <br /> situation. Trustees Reed, Chandler and City Attorney, were <br /> appointed, as committee. <br /> <br />Communication was read from Herbert Thwaite, representative, <br />property owners of West Seventeenth Street, requesting informatio <br />as .to why College Avenue to Washington Street has not been opened <br />On motion~ of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, the <br /> <br /> City Attorney was instructed to check the matter with the School <br /> Deed and <br /> Board and that/Resolution Acc'epting Deed be prepared so that <br /> <br /> street may be opened. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee M~artin, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />transfer of City license from C.W.Williams, doing business as <br />Broadway Cab Company, to J. Y~. Hester was approved, subject to <br />filing of insurance policy covering all cars. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />communication fr~m Santa Aha Board of Realtors expressing app~ee- <br />lation for cooperation in adopting Resolution for decontrol of <br />rents, was received and filed. <br /> <br />Communication and Resolution No. 324 of the Planning Commission <br />were read recommending reclassification of Lots ll to 18 inclueiw <br />in Block "B" of Tract No. 633, being located on the south side of <br />~Sixth Street and wee~ of Hawley Street, in accordance with app- <br />lication of Martha L. Koofolls. On motion of Trustee Chandler, <br />seconded by Cheney and carried, the Clerk was instructed to <br />publish'a notice of hearing,~ten days prior to the next meeting <br />of the Council on July 3rd, 1950, relative to reclassification of <br />above property. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, <br />proper authorities were auShori~ed to transfer 10.22 sh~r. es of <br />stock of the Santa Ana Valley Irrigation Company owned by the <br />City of' ~anta Ana to Bekins Van and Storage Company. <br /> <br />On motion of T~ustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and <br />variance granted to J. Elmer Preston to permit a rest home at <br /> <br /> <br />
