All pipe used for <br />house service connections shaT1 be thoroughly rodded through <br />before laying and extreme care shall be used to keep the in- <br />terior of the s~e free from all foreign materials. <br /> <br /> All threaded joints shall be thoroughly coated with <br />an arproved brand o£ red lead and immediately thereafter shall <br />be screwed together tightll. <br /> <br /> (d)TEST. After the pipe and all fittings have been <br />permanently blocked, it shall be thorou~htly and completely <br />flushed out afterwhich it shall be subjected to the City Water <br />pressure borforty-eight hours. Any leaks developed in the <br />test from a~y cause shall be repaired a~d the pipe tested <br />again. T~is operation shall be continued until all leaks and <br />imperfections disappear ~fterwhich and with the a~proval of <br />the inspection the trenches shall be backfulled. <br />SECTION $. BACKi~IIING. <br /> <br /> The backfulling of all trenches and other excavations <br />shall be done in a thorough and workmanlike manner in the fol- <br />lowing m~nner, the pipe shall be eogered with approximately <br />six (8) inches of loose earth free from large gravel or other <br />objectionable materisl and thoroughly hand t,mped around the <br />pipe, c~re being used to compact the earth equally on each <br /> <br />side of the pipe.
