Ve~el~ <br />(SEAL) Clerk of the Uity of Santa Anm <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 145V. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THY' BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TFE C I~7 OF <br />SANTA ANA, CAIIEORNIA, PROVIDING FOR A FORM OF SPECIFICATIONS <br />AND A STANDAPD SPECIFICATION FOR ALL PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE <br />CURBS, GUTTERS AMD SI DEWAIKS TO BE USED IN AIL STREET WORK IN <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA. <br /> <br />The Board ~ Trustees of the City of Santa Ana do <br /> <br />resolve as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION i. That the fol]owin~ set forth speciflca- <br /> <br />tions shall be the standard specifications for Portland Cement <br />Concrete Curbs, Gutters and ~idewalk~ to be used in all street <br /> <br />work in the City of Santa Aris, and sba]t be known ss "Standard <br /> <br />Specification. No. 31", as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> FINIal'lING. 'l~e gutter shall be brought to n true even grad~ and a smooth sur/ace <br /> by the use of wooden floats and a straight edge not less than twelve (12) feet long. The <br /> finished surface shall be free from b,m~!~' and depressions. It shall be edged smd marked <br /> into seetions not'over three and one-half (3Fi) feet in length with scoring lines in the <br /> gutter corr~si~dlng to those oa the curb. <br /> (c) FLAT GRADES. On tint grades one (1) per cent or less, a straight flow line <br /> shall be obtained by settnig grade stakes at five ($) foot intervals and guaging the surface <br /> of the concrete with a long straight edge resting upon several of these stakes. <br /> <br /> (d) CONSTRUCTION JOINTS. Construction joints shall be placed in the gutter <br />opposite construction joints in adjacent curb or at intervals of not to exceed twenty-five <br />(2~) feet. <br /> The joints shall be made by setting one-fourth (~) inch steel plates in a ~ertical <br />posltlon at right ~n~les to the curb liuc and withdrawin~ them after concrete ha~ been <br />tamped into pince. <br /> <br /> (e) CON_TRACTOR'S NAME ON (]UTTER. The Contractor shall stamp his <br />name on the ~utt~r at intervals of not more than one hundred (100) feet. The letters shall <br />nut be less than three-fourths (~) inch, nor more than one and one-half (1~) inches in <br />height and impressed to a depth of one-fourth (~) inch. <br /> <br /> (f) PROTECTION AND CURING. Alter the concrete has attained its initial set, <br />it shall be covered with earth to a depth of at least twO (2) inches and watered twice daily <br />for ten (10) days. <br /> <br /> (S) REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS. The Contractor shall repair ali curbs and <br />gutters damaged by him during the construction of gutters . Where an)' gutter requires <br />repair before acceptance, the repair shall be made by remov/n~ and replacing the entire <br />aeetinn and not hy refinishing the damaged portion. <br /> <br /> Where the ~lans provide for reconstruct/on of existing gutter and the limit of new <br />work specified does not fall on a scorin~ line, the ~ntlre esctlon shall be removed and new <br />gutter shall join existing ~utter at the first scorin~ line beyond said spoclfi~d limit. <br /> <br /> <br />
