RESOLUTION NO. 2231 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by Decision No. 22610 of the Railroad Commission of the State of <br />California, the Pacific Electric Railway Company was granted permission to.discontinue <br />its passenger service between the Cities of Santa Ana and Orange, in Orange Co~mty, and <br />have substituted therefor an augmented motor coach service to be provided by Motor Trans <br />Company; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a condition precedent to such abandonment of rail service was that <br />written consent thereto of the Cities of Santa Ana and Orange be secured filed with the <br />Commission, and a further condition was that no physical facilities of the railway were <br />to be abandoned, <br /> <br /> NOW, THE~EFORE, the City of ~anta Ana hereby acquiesces in said order of the <br /> Commission and consents to such abandonment of service subject to the following <br /> conditions: <br /> <br /> That the Pacific Electric Railway Company abandon all rail service, both <br />freight and passenger, between the cities of Santa Ana and Orange, reserving only the <br />right to use the tracks between said cities for the purpose of moving its freight motors <br />used in service north from Orange, when necessary for inspection or repair purposes, and <br />also for the purpose of maintaining said tracks, for emergency purposes and for <br />excursion purposes. <br /> <br /> That when the City of Santa Ana reconstructs its paving on Main Street in <br />such manner as will require the Railway, under its f~anc'hise, to similarly repave its <br />tracks in s~id street, that the existing double track curves at Fourth and Main Streets <br />-be replaced by single tr~ck curves, and that existing double tracks on Main Street <br />between Fourth Street and Sixth Street, and south of the Southern Pacific crossing on <br />North Main Street be replaced with single track. <br /> <br /> That when such reconstruction work is' needed to be done, the City of Santa Ana <br />will join the Railway in a request for a modificatio~ of above Order No. ~2610 which, as <br />noted, specifically provides that no abandonment of its physical facilities shall be <br />permitted the Railway. <br /> <br /> I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly intro- <br />duced, passed and~adopted by the City Council of th~ City of Santa Ana at a special <br />called meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of Septemb6r,~1930, by the following stated <br /> <br />vote, to-wit: <br />AYES, TRUSTEES: W.J.Kelly, J.L.McBride, <br />NOES, TRUSTEES: None <br />ABSENT, TRUSTEES: B. 0.
