191 <br /> <br />shall be elected by and shall serve during the pleasure of the <br />legislative body of the city of Santa Aua. <br /> <br /> SECTION 14 - E~',EINATION FEES: The fee for!exan~natfon for <br />said examining board of plumbers shall be Five Dol3ars (~5.00) for each <br />master plumber, a~d ~o Do31ars and Fifty cents (~2.50) for each <br />journeyman plumber, for the first examination, payable in advance to <br /> <br />the secretary of sa~d board, and no fee <br />of certiflcate~. <br /> <br /> SECTION 15 - ~ASTER PLU~ER: <br /> <br />shall be charged for renewsl <br /> <br />For the purpose of tb~s <br /> <br />ordinance a master plumber shall be deemed to be a person engaged in or <br />carrying on the business of plumbing, or doing plumbing work, including <br />the laying of cast iron sewers. <br /> <br /> SECTION 16 JOURNE~J~N ~L~BER: For the purpose of this <br />ordinance a journeyman plumber shall be deemed to be any person who <br />is employed to do plumbing work for wages or salary, but who does not <br />furnish any material or supplies in this execution or performance of <br />plumbing work. <br /> <br /> SECTIO~ 17 - APPRERTICE: For the purpose of this ordinance <br />an apprentice shall be deemed to be any person doing plumbing work <br />under the dlrectmsupervision and in the presence of a certifiad master <br />plumber or a certified journey~an plumber; and such apprentice is <br />required to have a permit from said examining board of plumbers to do <br />such plumbing work. <br /> <br /> SECTION 18 - CERTIFICATES: The exmainln~ board of plumbers <br />shall give an examination to each application for a certificate to do <br />plumbing work in the city of Santa ~.ma within two (2) weeks after the <br />filing of the aopllcation therefor sod the ~ ~ument of the fee incident <br />thereto~ and every applicant passfng such examination to t) e satisfac- <br />tion of the said examining board shall receive from the said board a <br />certificate of competency as a master plumber or Journeyman plumber in <br />accordance with his application; and ~ch certificate of competency <br />shall authorize the holder thereof to do plumbing work in ~he city of <br />Santa Ana until the first day of January next succeeding the date <br />thereof. <br /> <br /> SECTION 19 ~ CERTI~TCATE RENEWAI.S: All certificates issned <br />by the examining board of plumbers shall expire on the last day of <br />December of each ~ ar unless sooner revoked. Every master plumber or <br />Journeyman plumber holding a certificate of competency issued by the <br />said examining board of plumbers may, during the month of December of <br />each yaar, make application to the examlnfng board of plumbers for an <br />extension of s.~ch certificate of competency for an additional year, <br />and said examining board of plumbers, if satisfied that t~e holder of <br />~ch certificate of competency is competent to do plumbing work, shall <br />grant au extension of such certificate of competency for an additional <br />year without an examination.
