Ail traps shall be rigidly supported and set true with <br />respect to their water levels.. <br /> <br /> The use of a house trap or m~in drain trap is prohibited <br /> <br />Drum traps may be used only in connection with bsth <br />tubs, soda fountains, dental fixtures, ,nd drinking fountains. <br /> <br /> No fixture shall be tra~ed by having its waste connec- <br />ted with the trap of .ny other fixture. <br /> <br /> Except as otherwise specified in this ordinance, all <br /> traps and vents sha~l be of the same size as their waste nines. <br /> <br /> Traps for chemical laboratory sinks shall be of cast <br /> iron, glass or vitreous ware. <br /> <br /> Trans for bss~ns, sinks, or other similar fixtures <br /> shall be made of lead, brass, or vitreous ware. <br /> <br /> Durham traps may be used on bath tubs or showers, only. <br /> SECTION 50 - SAND TRAPS: W~ere a sand trap is connec- <br /> ted to a sewer or cesspool it shall be constructed in the follow- <br /> ing manner: <br /> <br /> The walls and bottom shell be ~t least three (~) inches <br />in thickness and built of concrete. A partition, the top of <br />which is on a level with the flow line of the trap, shall be so <br />placed as to nrevent the sand from entering the waste line. The <br />outlet shall be constructed with a combination Y and one-eighth <br />(1/8) bend or s~ntirary T wish a cleanout in the end thereof, and <br />so olaced as to oar mit atrao seal of at least four (4} inches. <br />The size of the tran shall be not less than eighteen (18) inches <br />by thirty-six (~6) inches, and not less than eighteen (18) inche <br />in depth. A cast iron cover shall be provided, one half of whicl <br />shall be in the form of a grading. The cover shall rest on a <br />cast iron angle frmme of sufficient size as to have one (1) inch <br />bearing on the concrete walls of the trap. <br /> <br /> SECTION 51 - PERPENDICULAR VENTS: Ail vent pipes shall <br />rise perpendicularly to ~ point six (6) inches above the levels <br />of the fixture vented, except water closet vents, which, when the <br />structural conditions of the building are such that it is imposs~ <br />hie to get a nerpendicular vent, ~y run under the floor to the <br />nearest nartition, ~rovided that in no case shall mny vent so <br />constructed exceed three (~) feet in length under the floor. <br />Where possible the vent pipe for ~ water closet or tra~ standard <br />slon ~nk shal~ be taken from Y fitting and have a continuous <br />rise of not less than forty five degrees, to aooint at least six <br />(8) inches above the fixture. <br /> <br /> SECTION 52 - VENTS FOR SM~LI FIXTURES: Where more than <br />one small fixture is to be vented into the same vent pipe, the <br />size of such pipe shall be ~s follows: <br /> <br /> For not exceeding two (2) fixtures ..... 1 1/2 inches <br /> For more than 2 and not exceeding 8 .... 2 inches <br /> For more than 8 and not exceeding 12---2 1/2 inches <br /> Fore more than 12 a~d not exceeding 20-Z inches <br /> <br />The ter~m "small fixture" shall mean any fixture using not larger <br />than 1 1/2 inch waste pipe. <br /> <br /> <br />
