CHANGEABLE MESSAGE SIGNS (CMS) <br />The Contractor shall provide 2 solar powered CMS two weeks prior to commencement <br />of construction. The signs shall be posted in advance of each end of the project for the <br />duration of the project. These CMS can be LED full matrix or letter matrix or <br />equivalent, with preferred 8" letter (minimum 6"). The overall width of the sign <br />including the trailer shall not exceed 8'. <br />• Prior to the start of the construction, display the following message: <br />Screen 1: <PROJECT STREET NAME> CONSTR <br />Screen 2: BEGINS xx/xx/xx <br />• When construction started, display the following message: <br />Screen 1: <PROJECT STREET NAME> UNDER CONSTR <br />Screen 2: USE ALT ROUTE <br />The messages and sign location may be changed at any time as determined by the <br />Engineer. <br />B. STATIC WARNING SIGNS <br />The Contractor shall post 2 static advance warning signs at least two weeks prior to <br />commencement of construction stating: <br />MAJOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON <br /><PROJECT STREET NAME> <br />FROM <DATE> TO <DATE> <br />EXPECT DELAYS <br />USE ALTERNATE ROUTE <br />The signs shall be posted in advanced of each end of the project. These warning signs <br />shall be sized (5' height by 6'wide minimum) to fit the above wordings with orange <br />reflective background, black border and 7" black letters. If sign is installed on the <br />sidewalk, there shall be enough clearance for pedestrian access underneath the sign. <br />The Engineer will determine sign placement and the dates. <br />In the event of construction delays that go beyond the posted completion date on the <br />sign, the contractor shall keep the completion date on the sign updated on a monthly <br />basis or as directed by the Engineer. <br />50 <br />
