CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br />AVENUE <br />4.00 SPECIAL PROVISIONS - TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEMS <br />4.01 DESCRIPTION <br />This work consists of traffic signal installation or modifications and any other related work <br />required to provide the intended operation at the locations shown on the project plans. <br />This work shall be in accordance with the Plans, these Special Provisions, the Standard <br />Specifications for Public Works Construction (SSPWC), Section 86 and 87 of the 2023 <br />Caltrans Standard Specifications, the 2023 Caltrans Standard Plans, and any applicable <br />errata (or Revised Standard Plans). <br />The Caltrans Standard Specifications Section 86 and 87 set forth above will control the <br />construction materials, and construction methods for specific work relating to Street <br />Lighting, Traffic Signal Materials and Traffic Signal Systems, except as amended by the <br />Project Plans and these Special Provisions. <br />4.02 NEC CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT NOTICE <br />Certification is required for all persons who perform work as electricians for contractors <br />licensed as Class C-10 electrical contractors under the Contractor's State License Board <br />Rules and Regulations. <br />4.03 FURNISHING AND INSTALLING <br />Unless specifically called out by the plans or special provisions that a piece of equipment <br />or material will be supplied by a third party, it is the Contractor responsibility to furnish <br />and install all necessary equipment and material, even if not identified on the plan or in <br />these special provisions, to provide the intended operation as shown on the plans. <br />4.04 SCHEDULING OF WORK <br />The City of Santa Ana requires that the Contractor shall pothole all pole locations to <br />determine the proper pole type and mast arm length prior to ordering. Contractor shall be <br />responsible for the survey required to determine the pole locations. <br />The City of Santa Ana will issue the notice to proceed to pothole following preconstruction <br />meeting. All potholing is to be completed within 10 days following the issuance of the <br />notice to proceed. Work shall be suspended following the completion of the potholing. <br />The contractor may order traffic signal equipment following the contract award including <br />poles. However, the City is not responsible for any pole changes due to unforeseen utilities <br />conflict resulting from ordering of equipment prior to potholing. <br />It is the intent of the City of Santa Ana that the Contractor be allowed to start construction <br />activity at a reasonable length of time prior to delivery of equipment and following receipt <br />of written notice to proceed.
