CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br />AVENUE <br />performance and no visible damage (apply 16,000 pound point load for 2,000,000 cycles). <br />The FRP frame and cover shall be provided with a five (5) year guarantee. <br />6.12 REMOVE EXISTING MANHOLE STRUCTURES <br />Removal of existing manholes shall be accomplished in accordance with the project plans, <br />City of Santa Ana Standards and Design Criteria, the applicable provisions of Section 306 <br />of the Standard Specifications, and these Special Provisions. <br />The following is added to the third paragraph of Subsection 306-5 of the Standard <br />Specifications: <br />The top six inches of backfilled subgrade shall be compacted to a relative <br />compaction of 90%. <br />6.13 ABANDON EXISTING SEWER MAIN <br />The Contactor shall abandon existing pipes per Section 306-5 of the Standard <br />Specifications, as specified herein, and as shown on the construction plans. <br />The Contractor shall provide traffic control as required and approved by the agency having <br />jurisdiction. Under no circumstances shall the abandonment take place before existing <br />sewers and manholes are out of service and all flow directed to the new or alternate pipes. <br />The abandon pipes shall be filled with sand cement slurry 1-sack (94lbs) of concrete. In <br />lieu of slurry, the contractor may use low density cellular concrete, Elastizell (EF) or <br />approved equal. <br />The Contractor shall demonstrate that the pipe to be abandoned has been completely filled, <br />without voids, by providing volume calculations for each placement of grout and materials <br />strength tests as required by the City. <br />The Contractor is responsible for the selection methods and material to be used. Pipe <br />abandonment shall be coordinated with the construction sequence. Appropriate plugs shall <br />be installed by the Contractor, and grout shall be injected in an upslope manner to remove <br />trapped air. Samples of the outgoing water (at the exit end) shall be made until the existing <br />grout mix is observed to be similar to the grout being injected at the inlet end. The grouting <br />plan, and grout mix design shall be submitted to the Engineer for review and approval prior <br />to commencement of work. <br />6.14 ABANDON EXISTING MANHOLE STRUCTURES <br />The contractor shall abandon existing manhole structures in conformance to the Standard <br />Specifications Section 306-5, as specified herein, and as shown on the construction plans <br />and per City of Santa Ana Standard Plan No. 1209. <br />• • <br />
