CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br />AVENUE <br />begins. Videos will serve as a record of the existing conditions for disputes that may arise from <br />restoration and should therefore be taken along the line of construction and site access and staging <br />areas at sufficient detail as necessary to clearly depict details of existing conditions. Videos shall <br />be a DVD or digital, in color, indexed and catalogued in such a manner that each photographed <br />area is readily identifiable and shall also indicate the date and time (hours, minutes and seconds) <br />when it was made. The Contractor shall also video any unusual conditions encountered during <br />construction that are not already a matter of photographic record. In any areas where existing <br />conditions cannot be determined by means of videos, the areas shall be restored as approved by <br />the Engineer at the Contractor's expense. All videos shall become the property of the City. <br />Payment for mobilization shall be considered as included in the other items of work and no <br />additional compensation will be allowed therefore. <br />7-4 PAYMENT FOR EXTRA WORK <br />7-4.1 General <br />Add the following to this subsection: <br />For such extra work the contractor shall receive payment as agreed upon in writing, or shall be <br />paid on force account. Work involving contract unit prices, the contractor shall not exceed any of <br />the quantities in the proposal unless prior authorization from the engineer is obtained in writing. <br />7-4.3 Markup <br />7-4.3.1 Work by the Contractor <br />The following supersedes the provisions of this subsection: <br />The following percentages shall be added to the Contractor's costs and shall constitute the markup <br />for all overhead and profits: <br />1) Labor............................................................20% <br />2) Materials...................................................... 15% <br />3) Equipment Rental ......................................... 15% <br />4) Other Items and Expenditures ...................... 15% <br />To the sum of the costs and markups provided for in this subsection, 1 percent shall be <br />added as compensation for bonding. <br />7-4.3.2 Work by the Subcontractor <br />The following supersedes the provisions of this subsection: <br />When all or any part of the extra work is performed by a Subcontractor, the markup established in <br />3-3.2.2(a) shall be applied to the Subcontractor's actual cost of such work. A markup of 10 percent <br />on the first $5,000 of the subcontracted portion of the extra work and a markup of 5 percent on <br />work added in excess of $5,000 of the subcontracted portion of the extra work may be added by <br />the Contractor. <br />19 <br />
