<br /> Communication was read from the Chamber of Commerce recommending the
<br /> inclusion of additional questions to be asked at the next special
<br /> census necessary to obtain statistics om employment and labor avail-
<br /> able to new manufacturers and commercial establishments, and on motion
<br /> of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Narkel and carried, the communication
<br />
<br /> was recelw~ed and filed.

<br /> Communication was read from the Chief of Police requesting permission
<br />
<br /> for Police Officer volunteers to wear their police uniforms during the
<br /> fund raising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of
<br /> America, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Heinly and car-
<br /> ried, the request was granted.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, commun~
<br /> cations dated November 8th and November 9th, 1955, together with
<br /> Resolutions Nos. 1305 and 1307 from the City of Orange, advising of
<br /> proposed annexations of certain real properties, were received and
<br /> filed.

<br /> Communication was read from the Board of Supervisors advising that the
<br /> request of the City for a special speed limit on Edinger Street from
<br /> ~istol Street w~aterly to the City Limits, was referred to the Traffi
<br /> Committee, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and
<br />
<br /> carried, the communication was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />applications of the General Telephone Company of California and the
<br />Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company before the Public Utilities
<br />Oommission for permission to extend service over certain routes in
<br />Orange County and portions of Los Angeles County, and to establish
<br />rates for said extended services, were received and filed.
<br />Communication was read from the Orange County Title Company giving
<br />consent to the City to start immediately to demolish the buildings
<br />located on Lots 7 and l0 in Block 17, located at the southeast corner
<br />of Sixth and Bush Streets, for Vehicle Parking District No. 1, and on
<br />motion of Co~ncilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the com-
<br />
<br />munication was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the claii
<br />
<br />of Annie Shields for injuries sustained in a fall on the defective
<br />condition of the sidewalk and curbing on the northwest corner of the
<br />intersection of Broadway and Sixth Str=ets, on November 3, 1955, in
<br />the amount of $3,500.00, was referred to the Attorney and Insurance
<br />
<br />C ar ri er.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />
<br />report submitted by Diehl, Evans and Company for the fiscal year ended
<br />
<br />June 30th, 1955, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the'
<br />applications of Roland Chapman, Glenn Smith, Harold Thomas, Elsie
<br />Staley, and Noland Spratt, to drive taxicabs, were received, filed and
<br />granted.
