246

10) Video Cassettes (Entertainment) - Rental

Existing Fee: $1.00 per 7 days
Adjustment: No Adjustment
Department: Library

A rental fee is currently applied to all videos regardless of category: instructional, nonfiction, and
entertainment. The proposal is to eliminate the rental fee for instructional and nonfiction videos and charge
only for entertainment videos. Instructional and nonfiction videos are predominantly used by teachers and
students; a rental fee tends to discourage the use of these educational materials. Providing instructional and
nonfiction videos free of charge reinforces the City's goal of "Education First."

11) Video Cassettes (Instructional/Non-Fiction) - Rental

Existing Fee:$1.00 per 7 days
ddjustment: No charge for 7 days
Overdue Fines apply starting on the 8t~ day
Department: Library

The proposal is to eliminate the rental fees for instructional and non-fiction videos to encourage the use of
these educational materials and reinforce the City's goal of"Education First."
