Nursing Assistant Training Program <br /> ❑ Provide care to patients with urinary,gastric,oxygen,and intravenous tubing <br /> (excluding inserting,suctioning,changing or repositioning the tubes) <br /> ❑ Make beds <br /> ❑ Insert cleansing enemas, laxative suppositories <br /> ❑ (with current certification) <br /> ❑ Apply non-sterile dry dressings to intact skin surfaces <br /> ❑ Apply non-legend topical ointments,creams,lotions,and solutions to intact skin <br /> surfaces <br /> ❑ Chart the medical record <br /> CNAs nay NOT perform any nursing functions that must be performed by a license <br /> health are professional. <br /> ExamF les of functions that CNAs may NOT perform are: <br /> ❑ Perform invasive procedures <br /> ❑ Pass administer medications or give injections(This includes the administration of an <br /> medication associated with treatment of eyes,ears,nose,mouth,or genitourinary tract. <br /> ❑ Perform ostomy care or apply wafer to skin <br /> ❑ Insert, irrigate, or rep I ace catheters <br /> ❑ Suctioning <br /> ❑ Perform sterile procedures(dressing changes,debridement,tracheostomy care) <br /> ❑ Administer gastrostomy or nasogastric feedings <br /> ❑ Administer oxygen <br /> Conficientiallity of Patient Health Information <br /> Clients in health care institutions (hospitals, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, out- <br /> patient clinics, etc.) have a right to privacy and confidentiality regarding information about <br /> them, i icluding the fact that they are a patient or resident of the institution. While in t le <br /> clinical setting it is possible for a student to work with, have access to, and overhear <br /> information regarding patients, physicians and others. Therefore, information student <br /> receive in the course of their clinical experiences is considered confidential. Release c f this <br /> data (oral, written or electronic) in any manner to an individual or entity, which is not <br /> authori 7.ed to have this data, is a violation of Health Insurance Portability and <br /> Accour Lability Act (HIPAA) regulations. <br /> Discip Mary Procedures <br /> Students will be-held accountable or etr actions while attending raining at the EG <br /> College, clinical facilities, and any other location or function of which the College is being <br /> represented. Students may be disciplined for any of the following reasons: <br /> 1. Academic dishonesty <br /> 2.
