Nursing Assistant Training Program <br /> disciplinary hearings, etc. Transportation, childcare and employment issues are not <br /> acceptable reasons to be tardy to class and/or absent from class. Students are <br /> required to be flexible and willing to travel to all clinical sites regardless of <br /> distance or inconvenience. <br /> 4. Professional and Ethical Behavior. Students are expected to adhere to the ANA <br /> 14W arc a o tsp ay prof-essional B.e avior andcon uct <br /> all times. <br /> 5. Professional Boundaries. Students are not to visit clients, staff, and the clinical <br /> facility when they are not scheduled. Students are not permitted to fraternize <br /> clients and staff while in the program. <br /> 6. Clinical Proficiency. Students are expected to provide safe nursing care fort eir <br /> patient under the direction/guidance of their clinical instructor. Students are <br /> expected to demonstrate competency in the following area(s) as it pertains to the <br /> term that the student is in: <br /> a. Provision of client safety and privacy <br /> b. Accurate client data collection to include vital signs <br /> c. Provision of total client care throughout the duration of the VN program, <br /> d. Safe administration of medications. <br /> e. Documentation of care (I and O, ADL, narrative care charting) <br /> f-. Review and correlation of client record with evidence-based informati n <br /> g. Attendance to client needs <br /> h. Performance of nursing procedures <br /> i. Attendance to pre/post-conference given by their instructor <br /> j. Attendance and participation to shift reports <br /> 7. Accountability. At the beginning of the shift, the student is expected to introd ice <br /> themselves to the instructor, the health care team., and the client they are assii ned <br /> to. Students must update and report off to their nurse, CNA, LVN or RN and <br /> instructor when leaving for break or lunch. Students must adhere to assigned <br /> breaks and lunch as made out by their clinical instructor. Students cannot leal e the <br /> clinical site without the knowledge and approval of their clinical instructor. <br /> Students should seek out clinical learning experiences within the CNA Scope of <br /> Practice under the supervision of the instructor or a licensed nurse. <br /> 8. Physical Limitation or Disability. The student must be free of any physical <br /> limitation or disability. if a student has an injury, physical limitation, or any <br /> condition that limits their ability to perform the function of a student nurse, they <br /> must inform the instructor immediately. The instructor will make the <br /> determination whether or not the student remains in the clinical setting. <br /> 9. Abuse Reporting. The California Department of Public health mandates all <br /> licensees to report use of excessive force upon or the mistreatment or abuse o any <br /> client and or failure to maintain confidentiality of client information. The stu ent <br /> must follow the Mandated Reporting guidelines and is advised to follow the <br /> correct channel o communication when reporting: <br /> a. Talk to the instructor—in-charge. <br /> b. If the problem is not resolved, talk to the Program Director. <br /> c. If the problem is not resolved, talk to the Director of Education. <br /> d.
