Organization Background
The Frida Cinema is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization, founded with the mission to
enrich, connect, and educate communities through the art of cinema. Since opening our doors on
February 21, 2014, in the heart of Downtown Santa Ana, we have served as Orange County's
only nonprofit art house cinema, committed to presenting independent, international, and
repertory films alongside accessible public arts programming that celebrates creativity and
storytelling in all its forms.
The Frida is led by founder and Executive Director Logan Crow, a veteran cultural
programmer with over 15 years of experience producing film and arts events throughout
Southern California. Prior to establishing The Frida, Logan founded the Long Beach
Cinematheque, where he created and directed high-profile outdoor series such as the annual
"Long Beach Zombie Walk," the outdoor screening series "Cinema Under the Stars" at
Sunnyside Cemetery, and al fresco film nights on the rooftop of the city's Convention and
Entertainment Center. These events drew thousands of attendees and featured curated film
experiences paired with live music, performance art, and community engagement.
Since its founding, The Frida has continued this tradition of bringing film and music events to
the outdoors. Our past outdoor activations include:
• Movies in Birch Park, presented in partnership with the City of Santa Ana
• Drive-In Cinema series in Santa Ana, Tustin, and Anaheim
• Classics on French Street, a summer film series held outdoors in Downtown Santa Ana
