SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The slurry seal shall be applied at a rate of 2,000 square feet per extra long ton <br /> (ELT). <br /> One "extra long ton" of slurry is made up of the following quantities: <br /> Aggregate (dry weight).......................2,000 pounds <br /> Emulsified asphalt .....................................400 pounds <br /> Water (exclusive of emulsion) ...............8-25 gallons <br /> Accelerator or Retardant <br /> Payment — Slurry sea[ will be paid for at the contract unit price per square foot in <br /> place. <br /> 2.10 TRAFFIC CONTROL. <br /> Street closures, detours, signs and barricades used for handling traffic shall <br /> conform to the requirements of latest edition of the "Work Area Traffic Control <br /> Handbook" (WATCH), City Standard Plan 1125F (SP 1125F) and these Special <br /> Provisions <br /> Traffic control plan must be submitted and approved before starting work on any <br /> public street, except for the following temporary closures: <br /> A. Temporary single lane closure on 4 or 6-lane arterials can be done <br /> per WATCH handbook without submitting traffic control plan. <br /> B. Temporary two lanes closure on 6-lane arterials may be done per <br /> WATCH handbook without submitting traffic control plan. However, this will <br /> require prior approval from Traffic Engineer. <br /> C. Temporary closure of local street may be done per WATCH <br /> handbook without submitting traffic control plan. However, this will require <br /> prior approval from Traffic Engineer. <br /> Flashing arrow signs shall be used on streets consisting of four or more lanes or <br /> where deemed necessary by the City's Traffic Engineering section. The flashing <br /> arrow signs shall be solar powered and left in place for the duration of the lane <br /> closure. <br /> Temporary striping installation for traffic control may be paint or removable tape or <br /> approved equivalent. <br /> Any existing speed limit signs or other conflicting signs in the construction zone <br /> shall be covered during construction with heavy-duty black plastic(non-transparent) <br /> sheets or bags, which are secured to the sign post below the sign, with tape.
