FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO
GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383
Resolution No. 2025-XX

second story, employing hung, wood sashes of comparable
dimensions to the historical windows and wood awning
windows whose smaller relative size is consistent with their
functions. Where new molding is proposed, it will match the
existing eave molding and will generally trace its historical
alignment along the original eave lien. No other conjectural
historic features or elements from other historic properties are
proposed to be added.

iv. As conditioned, the project complies with Standard No. 5
because distinctive materials, features, finishes, and
construction techniques or examples of craftsmanship that
characterize the property will be preserved. The east façade
will remain unchanged; windows and doors will be retained or
replaced to match the existing windows; and the high-pitched
roof form, gable vents, stucco cladding, chimneys, and bay
window will be retained. The second-story addition will alter
the roof form at the west side of the residence, but is located
on a secondary elevation of the building so that the main
character of the residence will remain unchanged from the
public right-of-way.

v. The project complies with Standard No. 6. Restoration of the
eave-line molding on the south elevation will match the
historic design and materials and will generally follow the
historical alignment of the original feature. The unpermitted
windows will be replaced for consistency with compatible
window designs.

vi. As conditioned, the project complies with Standard No. 9. As
discussed above, while the project would alter the existing
roof form, the work is proposed to make a s few alterations to
the historic fabric, such as stucco wall cladding, original wood
and lead windows, bay window, gable vents, chimneys, and
high-pitched roof. The main east façade would remain
unchanged.

Further, the second-story addition will be differentiated from
the original building with installation of a simple decorative
molding consistent with existing molding at the location of the
original roofline as an homage to the original roofline and to
break up the extensive wall planes on the north, south, and
west elevations. Additionally, consistent with National Park
Service Guidance (Weeks and Grimmer 2017), the addition
will be erected on a less-visible elevation facing the backyard.
Although the addition will be visible from oblique views at

Historic Resources Commission 239 9/23/2025
