South Main FaVade Improvement Program <br />This program is available to property owners and tenants interested in rehabilitating <br />commercial and retail properties located within the South Main Business District, which runs <br />from First Street to Warner. The program was created to fund exterior fagade and other on-site <br />property improvements to improve the appearance of the buildings and properties. The <br />program comes in the form of a cash rebate. <br />Downtown Storefront FaVade Improvement Program <br />Similar to the South Main Facade Improvement Program the Downtown Fagade Improvement <br />Program provides a cash rebate for tenants and property owners who wish to improve the <br />appearance of their properties through fagade treatments and other property improvements. <br />Public Facility Development Program <br />Public facility-based projects focus on the need for new or improved public facilities such as <br />recreation uses, community centers, cultural centers and facilities that may include police <br />substations. This program will enhance the Merged Project Area as a place to conduct business <br />and live. The construction of certain recreation facilities and police substations will also have <br />the benefit of reducing crime and increasing public safety. <br />Expansion of the Discovery Science Center (Museum District-,) <br />The Agency entered into an agreement with the Discovery Science Center for the expansion of <br />their facility. Current efforts are focusing on helping DSC obtain financing for the next state of <br />this multi-phase expansion. The Discovery Science Center is Orange County's largest non-profit <br />education resource dedicated to educating young minds in the appreciation of science, math <br />and technology through interactive exhibits and programs. <br />Regional Transportation Building" <br />The Santa Ana Regional Transportation Building (train depot) is proposed for renovation and <br />expansion. The expanded facility with be the home for the "60 Local" which will be light rail <br />that will service the City of Santa Ana. <br />YMCA Building-, <br />The YMCA Building is a National Register historic building. The building is currently vacant and <br />in a state of disrepair. The Agency proposes to fund the rehabilitation of the structure for <br />reuse. A possible tenant is the Orange County High School for the Arts. <br />OCTA Building-, <br />The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) building is a former bus terminal. The <br />Agency, in partnership with OCTA, will be soliciting proposals for a food/retail court on the <br />property to serve visitors and employees of the Downtown and surrounding area. <br />Santa Ana Community Redevelopment Agency Imp r i do P ?n July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2015 <br />For the Merged Santa Ana Redevelopment Projecdy ? r Page 27
