The new website allows <br />users to search for jobs by occupation, by industry and using the "O *NET Interest Profiler," which <br />matches an individual's interests with suitable occupations by asking 60 questions. <br />Participants will also be able to search for jobs in three categories: careers with a "bright <br />outlook" in growing industries, jobs that are part of the "green" economy and occupations that have <br />a Registered Apprenticeship program. Each occupation that a user selects has an easy -to -read, one - <br />page profile, including information about what knowledge, skills and abilities are needed; the <br />occupation's outlook; the level of education required; technologies used within the occupation; and <br />other, similar jobs. In addition, each occupation page includes direct links to local salary information, <br />training opportunities and relevant job openings. <br />Intensive Services <br />A significant portion of the target population is educated beyond the high school level; many have 4- <br />year college degrees, and some possess advanced degrees and specialized credentials. Thus, <br />assessment of these participants may be difficult even with the use of nationally recognized assessment <br />tools. Standardized assessment tools will be used to provide participants enrolled in Intensive Services <br />in -depth assessments of their skills, interests and vocational aptitudes. Examples of these standardized <br />tools include the Eureka system for career interests, the Test of Adult Basic Education for basic academic <br />skills, and WorkKeys, a nationally recognized career readiness assessment system that measures <br />proficiency in Applied Mathematics (AM), Reading for Information (RI) and Locating Information (LI). <br />Over 17,000 jobs across all U.S. industries have been "profiled" by WorkKeys and assigned a minimum <br />level indicating proficiency. <br />Individual employment plans will be developed by participants in cooperation with One -Stop case <br />managers and career coaches based on assessment results and personal career goals that refine and <br />focus job search and placement activities. Case managers will also provide participants ongoing career <br />guidance and counseling in collaboration with One -Stop job developers. Participants who lack <br />marketable skills and those for whom skill development is needed to fulfill employment goals may be <br />assigned an ITA for WIA- approved training or educational services. <br />Work Experience and Internships <br />On a limited basis, paid work experience will be arranged as a short -term Intensive Service <br />strategy to connect workers to new industries and occupations and, ultimately, full -time, <br />unsubsidized employment.
