2006 -2016 Yuba and Sutter Counties Proiection Highlights <br />The Government sector will generate an estimated 1,500 jobs, the largest number of new jobs for the <br />outlook period. An additional 1,300 new jobs are estimated to occur in the Education Services, Health <br />Care and Social Assistance sector, and an additional 600 are estimated to occur in the Professional and <br />Business Services. <br />The fastest growing non -arm industry sector is Education Services, Health Care and Social Assistance <br />with an annual average growth rate of 2.4 percent. Other major industry sectors with significant growth <br />rates are Professional and Business Services (1.8 percent), Other Services (1.7 percent), Leisure and <br />Hospitality (1.4 percent), and Government (1.3 percent). Manufacturing, Financial Services, and <br />Construction will not exceed the 1.0 percent annual average growth rate for Yuba and Sutter Counties <br />non -farm employment. <br />Los Angeles County (Foothill, L.A. City, L.A. County, Pacific Gateway, and South Bay) <br />2008 -2018 Projection Highlights <br />The largest number of new jobs is forecasted in Education Services, Health Care, and Social Assistance <br />(130,700), Professional and Business Services (71,500), and Government (56,000). These industry sectors <br />account for 70 percent of all job growth in non -farm employment. <br />The fastest growing non -farm industry sector is Education Services, Health Care, and Social Assistance <br />with an annual average growth rate of 2.6 percent. Other major industry sectors with significant growth <br />rates are Professional and Business Services (1.2 percent), and Wholesale Trade (1.2 percent). <br />Merced County <br />2006 -2016 Proiection Highlights <br />The largest amount of job growth is expected to occur in the Government sector with the addition of <br />2,200 jobs. One -half of this increase is expected in State Government Education. Significant increases <br />are also forecast in Professional and Business Services (900), Transportation, Warehousing, and Utilities <br />(800) and Education Services, Health Care and Social Assistance (600). Construction, Manufacturing, <br />Information, and Financial Activities are expected to decline. <br />Professional and Business Services is expected to be the fastest growing sector with an annual average <br />increase of 2.4 percent. Annual growth rates in Wholesale Trade (2.2 percent), Government (1.5 <br />percent), and Education Services, Health Care, and Social Assistance (1.1 percent) will exceed the annual <br />average growth rate of 0.7 percent for total non -farm employment in the county, <br />Monterey County <br />2008 -2018 Projection Highlights <br />Non -farm employment, which makes up about 68 percent of total employment in 2008, is expected to <br />grow by 6.9 percent. Approximately 74 percent or 6,600 jobs will be created in the following industry <br />sectors: Education Services, Health Care and Social Assistance (3,400 jobs) and Government (3,200 jobs). <br />59 <br />
